Ghost Interview
With his new website www.Ghoststreetball.com up and running we caught up with Ghost to see whats good with him his crew and his recent success on the streetball circut.
BT: What's up Ghost thanks for dropping by to answer some questions
Ghost: No problem my man, i appreciate it, Anytime.
BT: You're new website ghoststreetball.com is now up and running and I have to say its looking real nice, tell us a little about it and what we can expect to see on it in the future.
Ghost: Thank you. First off, I gotta say thanks to public HOUSIN for collaborating with me on it and making my vision a solid product. The site is pretty much something where people can go to and follow Ghost. It will always have fresh updates:
-videos
-pics
-diary
-blog entry
etc.
It has a great detailed description of what im doing, where i have been, what it took for me to get to where i am and so forth.
BT: Your new crew "Cant c me Squad is also featured on your new website, Who is part of the team and what can we expect to see from them?
Ghost: The Cant C me Squad is really just a bunch of cats who are down with the movement and got that hunger to do some damage whether it may be the internet, high school, college, pro ball or even just a pick up run. They know the deal, they gonna shine as much as they produce. We are gunning for a quality over quanity approach with it. No contracts, no trying to be something we are not, it is what it is.
BT: There's talk of your DVD coming out soon, who and what can we expect to see on it and do you have an idea on when you think it will be released
Ghost: The Ghost dvd: The Game Within the Game is definitely coming out in the NEAR future. It will have footage from a whole bunch of events i been to, pick up runs, and a couple freestyles. No joke got a nice part on there, Cheez killed it, Prince always coming through to stamp his name and game on it, as well as a few Cant C me dudes. Its definitely gonna be fire. It pretty much The best Logged footage of ghost between 2004 - present. The special features will have A lot to keep you occupied. And we got a special little bonus dvd for the first 100 orders.
BT: Bonus DVD? An hints on what that is?
Ghost: The bonus Dvd is just a little collectors piece really. Some videos, unreleased, released, trainning videos, etc. Nothing to go out and camp for 3 days to get. Just my little appreciation gift.
BT: You were part of the Hustle Up Streetball Tour this year which featured players like Professor, Air Up There and Hot Sauce. What was that experience like and what did you take away from it
Ghost: The experience was great. It gave me some serious confidence in my game and it helped me understand not only the court, but the business side of things. I had the chance to be coached by Mark Edwards as well. He was very helpful and deffinately got me working harder and im excited for this years tour! I took a lot away from the tour. I met my manager and built a nice reationship with her and Most importantly i left the tour with new relationships. Im a strong believer in never leaving people salty with you.
Shout out to my manager Linda Hill as well as Mike Rev and the whole hustle up staff!
BT: What was the most memorable moment on tour for you?
Ghost: The whole tour experience at the time was an over whelming feeling for the simple fact i been setting it as one of my goals since......and1 mixtape 3. But Game wise, Coach Edwards put me in and said "I want three 3's from you before your shift ends!" I went in and hit the threes and it was really my first Coach / Point guard experience. Nothing special, but if you take your Point guard spot serious, you understand.
BT: You played in a few of the Ball4real Tour games this year and word is you killed the Buffalo stop. What happened in that game?
Ghost: Man... That was a great shooting game. I shot 7/7 and 6/6 behind the 3 point line. 20 points and we almost pulled out the win too. I didnt start but i got my little minutes and when shane saw me hittin my Jumpers he gave me minutes. Nothing really to special, i better go 7/7 when im open! Shout out to the ball for real fam as well. They treated me and my dudes nice every time i showed up.
BT: You were flown out to NYC this year for the Street Godz Freestyle Tournament, What was that experience like and how did you think it went?
Ghost: It was deffinately a great feeling to be a part of a freestyle competition and get recognized as one of the best in the world. I may not have won it, but i deffinately understand how buisness works. IT was a great event and i deffinately think Raphael Edwards and his whole movement need to be recognized for their tournament and make it happen in more cities.
BT: You've been involved with K1X this year to help promote their basketball label. Tell us a little bit about your experience with them and how you got put on.
Ghost: Man, k1x and ghost go back to 2002-2003. I remember i got a little love from them from the get go. They sent me a few boxes of stuff, some gear and from their its been a great relationship. Now that my game had matured to a certain point, and when i can go to a tour stop and go 7/7, or get invites to Freestyle events, or the loyalty of just wearing their kicks on tour. They commend me for that and took a step to build a further relationship with me and it is what it is. I love their style, their products, and the shoes are a perfect fit for my style of play....so i rep em. Big ups to k1x...Niels,ceasar,that dude 187 and the whole fam over there.
BT: What are your plans for next year?
Ghost: Right now im not jumping in anything both feet first. what i mean is, i was supposed to go back to school this year and then the tour was just so overwhelming and a deffinate great opportunity. So i decided i would rather go make some money (to make living easier when i go back to school), get better, and go back to school next fall. In canada your allowed to get paid for things like tours as well as be elligable so i got 4 years left. As well i got my clinics and camps i do and im really pushing to get more involved in the community out here in toronto. I got a few things lined up but we will see how they go, in gods hands. But who knows, maybe next year i will be down another path so far from where im at now....In a positive way though..
BT: Any last words before we go?
Ghost: Man this is really off topic but hey...
I really want to commend everyone in the "internet streetball game" for stepping back and realising things are never THAT serious, especially over the internet. What i mean is, the Negativity we were bringing (yes im guilty too). And anybody out there looking to do something with any type of talent you got, Go For IT! dont sit and wait, make a move and get it poppin.
Shout out to The whole Hustle up Tour this year, we got some new faces. And anyone ever in the city (toronto) you know im at Harbour front Community center all day. Get a run in.
God bless
Ghost
