30/09 - Corey "Homicide" Williams - Article / Interview / Clip
Coming out of one of the top High Schools in NYC (Rice) Corey Williams journey to D1 basketball wasn't an easy one. Over shadowed by players like Gary Saunders, Chudney Grey and Bevon Robin, Corey's only option was Penn Valley Community College in Kansas. Bitter at this Corey made a list of goals before his sophomore year, he accomplished all but one. He made first team All-American and averaged 20 plus points per game only to lose in the championship game by 2 points. The following year Corey enrolled at Alabama State were he averaged 15 points per game and went into his senior year confident he was NBA bound. .. read more .. |

27/09 - And1 vs Puerto Rico Recap by Professor
Puerto Rico turned out to be a good look for the tour. We had a "crash-the-court" at one of the biggest housing projects down there that was absolutely crazy. Air Up There shut it down by getting at least 10 dunks while we out there. Among the dunks he unleashed, he came with his signature 360-between-the-legs - It was off the chain. The game on Saturday down there was one of the best international games I've witnessed. It was team AND1 vs The Puerto Rican team which included some pros from PR, a handful of open-runs contestants and legendary DJ - ball trick kid - Bobbito. The Crowd was absolutely on the whole time. They were on their feet the whole game and were mad high energy. This was AND1s first game in PR ever.. .. read more.. |
25/09 - The Real: Rucker Park Legends DVD Review
The name tends to say it all. It's those stories you heard about guys leaping high to grab coins off the top of the backboard. It's those stories about guys who were dropping 50, 60, 70 points in a game before Kobe and them made it out of the crib. It's those guys that gave NBA superstars like Dr. J and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar stomach's butterflies. That's right, executive producer Bob McCullough Jr. and Image Entertainment have teamed up to document the The Real: Rucker Park Legends (Image Entertainment) in a DVD project, and like a rusty library book in anybody's house, it was long overdue. .. read more .. |

17/09 - AND 1's Silk: Diary from Puerto Rico, Day Two
What’s up? It’s Silk again, still chillin’ in Puerto Rico. The Crash the Court went real good; we put on a show. We played at Llores Torres, which is one of the biggest projects in the world, and the people came out in force – a lot of kids, too. People had chickens and roosters out there, right in the middle of the projects. It was crazy. They had a couple guys on their team that play in the professional league, but we still came out and ran through ‘em. Personally, I put it down. I came out and shook some guys, did a couple passes and stuff like that. AO threw me two lobs: one where I came flying in from the side, and on the other where he bounced it and I came through the lane and dunked on two guys. .. read more.. |
17/09 - 'Curly' Neal Interview
Q: Right off the bat: How does a bald guy get the nickname Curly?
A: Bobby Milton, my coach (at Johnson C. Smith) gave it to me. It's funny because I've shaved my head ever since I was a kid.
Q: OK, now that we got that out of the way, congrats on being selected to the Guilford County Sports Hall of Fame. The Harlem Globetrotters were inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame a few years back. How does this compare?
A: Oh, this is much more special because this is where I grew up. This is my home. I've always been proud of Greensboro. It's a good feeling to know Greensboro is proud of me. .. read more.. |
16/09 - AND 1's Silk: Diary from Puerto Rico, Day One

We got AND 1’s Andre "Silk" Poole, a Baltimore playground legend and one of the tour’s newest members, to keep a diary of the trip. Thursday // 3:15 p.m. What's up everybody? This is Silk, chillin’ here in Puerto Rico. Everything’s been good so far. We got in yesterday around 11:30 in the morning. We all flew in from different cities; I ended up on the same plane with AO, coach Steve Burtt, Circus and one of the camera guys. It was funny because it was clear skies when we were on the plane, but as soon as we landed it started raining. .. read more.. |

09/09 - Killer Crossover Tour San Diego Recap by Mexican_Dude
What up yo, first off, the game was quite crazy w/a lot of dunks and 1 on 1's with Sauce. The players for the "Legends" team were Violator, Big Swoal, High Rizer, Springz, I'll BRB, Sik Wit It, and Hot Sauce. Baby Shack and Silk were not there. The San Diego team consisted of a whole bunch of dudes I did not know, but they were not so bad. At warmups, the Legends were dunking outta the gym. Springz was doing through the legs, behind the back in the air dunk, a near free throw line dunk. Someone else tried to do what AUT does, 360 through the legs but it hit the back of the rim. Sauce did not really freestyle much during warmups, he would do little moves here and there and then hit his awkward jumpshots. Sik Wit It also played with the ball for some time...doing his usual thing, spinning it around his arms then throwing it up in the air and catching it on his back. .. read more.. |
07/09 - The Real: Rucker Park Legends (2006)
More than five decades ago, a New York City Parks employee named Holcombe Rucker encouraged Harlem kids to stay in school with a basketball tournament and league that would develop into an international phenomenon. Upon his death, two of his pupils continued his work by drawing from the league's Pro Division to start the famous "Each One Teach One" program, pairing up basketball's greats with disadvantaged youth. The innovative idea attracted such legends as Wilt Chamberlin, Julius "Dr. J" Erving, Kareem Abdul-Jabaar and streetball heroes such as Earl "The Goat" Manigault and Joe "The Destroyer" Hammond. Rucker Park's reputation quickly grew, becoming a virtual training ground for the NBA, influencing the playing style of the game and transforming Hip-Hop culture. .. read more.. |
02/09 - 2006 Elite 24 Recap
Anyone who has covered college basketball recruiting for five minutes knows that class and sneaker company affiliation are every bit as vital statistics as height and weight. That's what made the Elite 24 Hoops Classic on Friday evening at Rucker Park such a unique event. While most prep talent is divided across different camps during the summer circuit according to shoe company allegiances, the Classic afforded fans the opportunity to see the regulars from Reebok, adidas or Nike camps and tournaments on the same court. "At a sneaker camp, you don't have all the best players in the country," said Oak Hill Academy rising senior Michael Beasley. "Most of the all-star games are all seniors. .. read more.. |
