I’ve been watching and enjoying some of my favorite ballers on mix tapes and DVD since the first And1 tape hit the streets many years ago. And, I’ve had the pleasure of interviewing and writing about lots of guys like Pat Da Roc, Ghost, Jay “Boogie” Brantley and Corey “Homicide” Williams who’ve been featured on many of them. But it wasn’t until recently that I was able to get to know some real masters at making them and performing in them. The guys over at Local Mixtapes Streetball are always keepin’ it local but bringing it to you on the court and in the clips. ..read more..

It was a nice sunny day and me, the intimidator, mission, and replay hit up the "panhandle" at golden gate park to get some of that remixtape footage. 14/10 - Rafer Alston - Making a Point
During the offseason, Rockets point guard Rafer Alston didn't take an extended summer vacation. He couldn't pull himself away from Toyota Center long enough to plan anything. "I was at Toyota Center pretty much all summer," Alston said. "I probably took about 800 shots a day on the practice court. I kept shooting until my arms were sore." He's hoping the extra work will pay off. After struggling with his perimeter shooting last season, Alston spent the summer making sure he hears far fewer clanks in his eighth season. The Rockets point guard, who is a career 38.7-percent shooter, shot 37.9 percent from the field and 32.7 percent from three-point range in 2005-06. ..read more..
13/10 - Basketball players promoting showball
They don’t keep score. In fact, the object of showball is not even to get the basketball in the hoop. There is no ref. In fact there are no fouls or bounds. The two men, Patrick Killip of Whitefish and J.D. Holm of Columbia Falls, began Flair Entertainment in February of 2006. Flair Entertainment is directed at organizing showball events. ..read more..

11/10 - Basketball With A Twist
It's basketball with a twist. Street ball - complete with high flying dunks and basketball tricks - is everything a typical coach wouldn't allow in a typical game. But this is far from typical. Nothing But Net Entertainment, an El Paso-based company, is responsible for bringing the street ball game to the local area. Myke Fakir, of the company, said it's more than just the game that's got people excited. The company has also donated tickets to the children at Providence Memorial Hospital's oncology department. Fakir said it's also just as important that the staff there are rewarded for caring for the sick children. ..read more..
