It’s hard to believe, even for me, but next week will drop the fifth edition of SLAM presents Streetball. We started it five years ago as a way to finally do some extensive streetball coverage; previously we'd been limited to doing just one story in here or there in SLAM. But as the And1 Mixtape Tour grew in prominence, it became obvious that we needed more space for Streetball. But after a few years, we realized we’d opened a can of worms. 22/05 - All-star streetball classic in West Palm Beach, FL
Ever seen Hot Sauce throw the "boomerang? "Phillip "Hot Sauce" Champion perfected one of the best- known moves in streetball called the boomerang. He and six other professional streetballers will put it and other trick moves on display in an exhibition game at 7 p.m. June 9 at Martin County High School. The boomerang is a move where it appears as if a player on offense is passing the ball while actually putting the ball up briefly with enough backspin to return it to the original ball carrier's hands. 19/05 - Gearing up for the 2007 Mixtape Tour with And1
Ready or not, summer - and its unique style of play - is just about here, and we’re ready. SLAM Presents Streetball (with a dope cover story by Lang, who will break it out on the site shortly) is on sale next week, and most big Tourneys will be kicking off in June. Then there’s the AND1 Mixtape Tour, which has been remixed, so to speak, but is still going strong. Matt Caputo checks in with the Mixtapers during their visit this week to NYC. 07/05 - Ball4real Streetball World Tour
This summer's premiere streetball event will feature all the players you love from "Streetball" on ESPN2, including AO, Main Event, Mr. 720 (aka The Air Up There), 50, ½ Man ½ Amazing, Spyda, Shane the Dribbling Machine, Circus, Special FX, I'll be Right Back, High Octane, Pharmacist and Coach Steve Burtt. The inaugural tour will feature a pre-game Block Party, giving local streetballers the opportunity to showcase their skills. Four lucky ballers will be chosen at the Block Party to represent their city vs. The Ball4Real team in the game that evening.
