The NCAA Final Four basketball games won't be the only hoop action this weekend. Hot Sauce, Spyda, Silk, Highriser, Baby Shaq and other members of the Streetball Legends Tour basketball team will take on the Bethune-Cookman College Bad Boys in Friday night's game at the Ocean Center during, but not affilliated with, Black College Reunion. Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater introduced the soundtrack to be as prominent piece of the game as the graphics. Since then EA Sports has taken the reins as the leader in background rhythms, even recruiting Just Blaze to produce the complete soundtrack to NBA Live 2003. This year, Ubisoft recruited the And 1 empire to try their hand at the soundtrack game. 28/03 - Frenzy All Star advances in ESPN City Slam
Boston Frenzy All Star forward Alexus Foyle (6'6" BYU Hawaii) won the final competition for the city of Boston's best slam dunkers. The competition was held in Panama City, Florida and will be televised on a 30-minute show upcoming on ESPN entitled "ESPN CITY SLAM: Boston." "I was happy to represent the Boston Frenzy in this competition," an emotional Foyle stated. "I had to pull some tricks out of the bag like dunking two basketballs." Foyle now advances to the semi-finals of the National competition to represent Boston against 12 other semi-finalists. The semi-finals will be in Chicago on June 23, 24, 25. ..read more ..

Behind the black patch over Victor Page's right eye is not an eye at all. It is a hole, deep and lifeless, where an eye was before Page was shot in the face. Page hopes someday to have surgery to be fitted with a glass eye. It is another in a line of unfulfilled hopes. A decade after leaving college, he still dreams of playing in the N.B.A., too. Yao Ming and Rafer Alston scored 22 points apiece, as Houston edged New Orleans/Oklahoma City, 93-92, at the Ford Center. Juwan Howard posted 16 points and 12 rebounds, while Keith Bogans scored 14 for the Rockets, who snapped a six-game losing streak. In their debut performance, the Salem Stampede put on a show Saturday night. The Stampede, a first-year franchise in the International Basketball League, lost a 116-113 thriller to the Seattle Mountaineers before a near-capacity crowd of about 1,000 at Woodburn High School. "We just really appreciate all the fans that came out," said Stampede owner Anthony Veliz, a Woodburn resident who bought the team for $55,000 in July. "As far as being proud, this is my hometown. Steve Burtt Sr. and Gary Springer played together as teenagers for Riverside Church, and were Harlem soulmates when they reunited after high school at Iona College, where they trudged off the Meadowlands court heartbroken, their college careers over, following a one-point loss to Virginia in the 1984 East Regionals 22 years ago yesterday. Tonight, another Steve Burtt and another Gary Springer will try to make NCAA Tournament history when Iona, little in size and reputation, tries to chop down LSU, and the fathers, still close friends, will be in the stands at Veterans Memorial Arena watching. ..read more..

Saturday, April 8, 2006 at Princeton University’s Dillon Gym. For the past two years the Black Men's Awareness Group has promoted Street Basketball at Princeton University and in New Jersey as a whole by organizing Charity Street Basketball Tournaments. AND1's basketball tour (think Harlem Globetrotter's meets hip hop) took a break from the big cities and ESPN to stop at Rock Valley College on Saturday for a game to benefit Pryme Tyme AAU basketball programs in Rockford.
