a team in the EBC, the premiere summer basketball

28/06 - And 1 Feels the Love in San Antonio
They came to the Alamo-town's
open run from far and wide. On a hot afternoon,
the And 1 Mix Tape Tour returned to San Antonio
yesterday, and a slimmed-down Bubba Sparks
was also here from Denver, relocating to Texas
to attend a JC, then Texas A&M.
28/06 - Day
4 at EBC
The final day of games
to close out the first week of EBC's 25th
Anniversary season was a day jam packed with
excitement, give-aways, and of course intense
street basketball. Radio station Hot 97 was
at the park broadcasting live with DJ Enough's
5 o'clock free ride and will be doing so every
Thursday for the rest of the summer.
26/06 - Debating the merits of street basketball
More than 30 years have
eclipsed since Chicago Sun-Times sportswriter
Rick Telander spent a summer in Brooklyn's
Bedford-Stuyvesant, gathering information
for "Heaven Is a Playground," his groundbreaking
book that chronicles the momentous role the
game of basketball plays in inner-city life.
Telander unveiled an impoverished world -
the focal point of which was playground hoops.

1 MixTape Volume 8
The folks at And1 take
it back to where it all began: on the street.
This volume, from the premier source of footwear
and apparel for players with game and attitude,
showcases the skills of some serious street
ballers from across the country. The Mix Tape
tour was hosted by Shane the Dribbling Machine,
who travels from North Philly to Oakland with
its up-and-coming players like Spyda, Pharmacist,
Baby Shack, Spinmaster, and Pat da Rock.
25/06 - Daryl "Majic" Dorsey NBA Draft
Bio

Community College in Florida. Tried to enroll
at Southern Indiana in September of 2004,

24/06 - Only
one King will hold high court
32 of Toronto's most accomplished
and talented ballers will check their reputations
at the door and compete today in Nike Battlegrounds
Toronto 2005, an invite-only, win-or-go-home,
one-on-one streetball tournament to determine
the ultimate King of Toronto. Who will be
left standing in 2005?.
24/06 - Day 3 at the EBC
The sun wasn't shining yesterday
but that didn't stop the EBC summer tournament
from taking place. Gaucho's Gym in the Bronx
opened its doors to the teams, announcers
and fans so that day three of the tournament
games could be played as scheduled. Despite
the dreary weather, announcer Hannibal did
his thing and hyped up the crowd.
24/06 - Rap Artist The Game 'Rushed' At BB Game
West coast rap artist The
Game couldn't get a break at the Entertainers
Basketball Classic on Tuesday. The rap artists'
team had been trailing, and moments after
they finally pulled into the lead, with minutes
to go in the game, a fight broke out on the
court, and the tournament was called.
23/06 - Day 2 at the EBC
Opening week continued at
the EBC tournament with four more teams there
to battle it out on the court but the VIP
lounge was the place to be before the games
began. Infamous local barber "Z"
had his chair set up and was giving shape-ups
while Chef Tar was cooking up a storm selling
all kinds of food from chicken wings to yellow
rice and beans.
23/06 - Phoenix
Gets Hot With the AND1 Mix Tape Tour
It's that time again! The
AND1 Mix Tape Tour is Official. From jump,
I have to tell you, if you haven't been to
one, check www.and1.com for a schedule of
when they are rolling through a town near
you. Because I went to the Phoenix Tour stop,
and watched the AND1 ballers wreck shop! The
final score was 120-106 with the AND1 cats
over the Phoenix team.
22/06 - Opening Night at the EBC
The 25th year of the Entertainers
Basketball Classic kicked off last night.
If opening night was any indication of what
is to come the rest of the summer, then we
advise ya'll to get up to 155th as soon as
possible. The first game of the night saw
Fat Joe bring his Terror Squad against a DC-based
team Electroite.

21/06 - Streetball-wise woman makes And1 cut,
again
Players such as Baby Shack
kept the oohs and ahs coming from fans. The
only thing that didn't stick out about Tammie
McQuain was her game. She was the shortest.
She was the oldest. Her dirty blond hair,
pulled back into pigtails, and dainty 5-foot-9
physique made her look like a mouse among
rhinos on the basketball court.

21/06 - Valley players shake 'n' bake for shot
at And1
Basketball traditionalists
expecting layups and bounce passes would have
walked away disappointed. Half-court alley-oops
and Magic-like no-looks dominated the games
in front of about 1,500 fans outside America
West Arena on Saturday. Purists should have
known: And 1 isn't traditional basketball
18/06 - 'Cage'-ed heat
Game 4 of the NBA Finals
takes place tonight between the San Antonio
Spurs and the Detroit Pistons. And although
one team will emerge as champion this weekend
or early next week, it does not mean that
basketball is done for the summer. Not in
New York City. Not when Ken Graham's W. Fourth
St. Summer Pro-Classic basketball tournament
has started. That's when "The Cage" is just
heating up.
18/06 - Spinning
The Globe: The Rise, Fall, and Return To Greatness
of the Harlem Globetrotters
In many ways, the Harlem
Globetrotters can easily be called the world's
mostÊfamous basketball team. They've played
in every arena from South Africa to South
Beach. They've had Hall of Famers like Wilt
Chamberlain and Marques Haynes wear their
prestigious red, white and blue uniform.
16/06 - And1 tour taking it to the streets
If the player with one
of the best handles in the game was craving
street cred, the first thing he needed was
a new handle of his own. The Grayson Bouchers
of the world are CEOs. They are worldly men
of wealth. They are brokers, bean-counters
and butlers, faces from an Ivy League fraternity.
16/06 - Street Smarts - Balling for fun
When he left Mesa Community
College for Chicago State back in 1999, Tony
Jones knew in his gut that he'd be back in
Phoenix as a pro baller. Of course, he hoped
he'd be wearing an NBA uniform. But six years
later, Jones, a.k.a. "Go Get It," is playing
straight-up streetball and hoopin' it up on
the AND1 Mix Tape Tour, which hips and hops
into America West Arena on Saturday, June
18,
15/06 - ESPN's Block Party Returns
ESPN2's chunk of sports
and entertainment programming aptly titled
Block Party is making a comeback Tuesday nights
this summer, with hip-hop and sports stars
at center stage. In addition to new episodes
of the returning show, Streetball: The AND
1 Mix Tape Tour, three new series are slated
to air.
14/06 - SI story gives hoop game a new spin
They are the new basketball
stars. Their names? "The Pharmacist, The Professor,Sik
Wit It," and "Half Man, Half Amazing." You
say you've never heard of them? That's only
because you haven't been paying attention.
Rest assured, kids have heard of them.
08/06 - AND1 Makes the Cover of Sports Illustrated
Soon it will be upon us,
that apocalyptic day when some And1 Mix Tape
Tour ballplayer pulls a yo-yo, stiff-leg,
boomerang, Flintstone Shuffle combo move so
profoundly off the hook that basketball civilization
itself collapses in a heap of broken ankles,
its definition of fundamentally sound smashed
to pieces. Whereupon the archaeologists will
move in.
06/06 - King Handles Interview
Joel "King Handles" Haywood,
Vancouver Streetballer and Notic Legend is
one of the hottest streetballers out right
now. Considered by some as the fastest dribbler
on the planet, Joey's handles have not only
impressed his fans but the likes of YPA who
he now rolls with. Here's an exclusive interview
I did with Joey.
03/06 - Street
Baller - Rise 'n Shine
You may not think of Eugene
as a hotbed for streetball. But a former
Springfield High hoops standout may change
all that. J.J. Branford is on the verge of
stardom. "The opportunity has arisen to maybe
get known a little bit," said Branford. The
31-year old has been invited to the And1 Mix
Tape Tour's Open Run in Sacramento next week.
"It's just the first step. I've got to really
work hard.
