30/07 - Tru Baller vs King Handles HIU Recap by All Day
So friiday I get out there around 12:15 in the morning so I missed all the harbourfront action so I dunno about what happened there. Before I begin let me just say I got the upmost respect for these 2....So i wrote this not in favor of either...but in respect to both of them as players and people...both are very approachable and respectable human beings and should be judged on that before streetball....they really gave the crowd a show. Saturday starts off nice....the HIU was being played on the opposite side of the stadium as last year so finding it was a little tough for me cuz I dont know that area at all but it seemed like the tournament was much bigger. ..read more..

27/07 - Ball4Real Charlotte Recap by ogncballer
Either you'll love it or you'll hate it. Ball4real is definitely going its own way with streetball. While the other company thinks that concrete and heat is the cure for streetball, ball4real clearly thinks the answers in the style of play and the ball don’t lie.
The block party was the same as any of the other block parties you saw on the old tour. Same Mt. Dew truck, same greyhound bus, same truth truck and all the sweltering summer heat you can stomach. There were 10 teams that ran roughly five games and one kid’s game that took place to see who got in the building. Not nearly the turnout of hopeless wannabes but still a good showing of ballers. ..read more..

17/07 - Brothers bring Orchard Beach tourney into full bloom
Orchard Beach is a two-hour bus ride from Rucker Park. It's a 45-minute subway trip plus an hour-long bus transfer from Kingdome, and it's even farther from W. 4th St. But last Sunday, the beach on Long Island Sound became the epicenter of New York City streetball. 16/07 -"Bad Santa" finds redemption on the court
Kenny Brunner can finally be himself on and off the court. The muscular, hardcore, professional street-baller recently signed a two-year, six-figure contract and shoe deal with And1, got married, purchased a beautiful home in a nice neighborhood, went from driving a Ford Bronco to a Lexus GS300 that rolls on 21s, and he can now afford to send his son to college. Right now, he is the vocal leader of Play2Win in the Southern California Summer Pro League, the two-time defending champions. ..read more..

16/07 - Sean Bell's memory alive in hoops
On the sideline but always in the game. The best heckler they ever knew. That's how the neighborhood crew remembers its friend, Sean Bell, the unarmed man who died Nov. 25 in a barrage of police bullets just hours before he was to marry the mother of his two young daughters. The sidelines are less raucous now, but those sitting courtside can still hear his name. It's blared over loudspeakers whenever the DDN/Sean Bell All-Stars - a basketball team assembled by his friends from Jamaica, Queens - take to the playgrounds at various tournaments throughout the city. ..read more..

14/07 - Streetball back in great outdoors
There are always a few good ways to tell when summer has arrived. The days get longer but, dreadfully, hotter; kids often roam neighborhoods in search of a cure for boredom, and, well, quite simply, it's hot. But for hoop heads, summer officially arrives once the heat waves above the playground blacktops become more visible and streetball is in full swing. Today, the AND1 Mix Tape Tour invades Penns Landing, as it continues through its 10-city summerlong tour, featuring some of the world's best streetball players. ..read more..

12/07 - Stinson ready to rock Rucker
Nicknames are woven into the lore of the Entertainers Basketball Classic as much as Rucker Park's famous red-and-green court. Some monikers highlight a player's physical appearance. Others champion an individual's game. Curtis Stinson's alias falls into neither category. Dubbed "Hardest Worker" by an EBC public address announcer, the Bronx product said he earned the title by laboring on the playground and toiling in the gym. ..read more..

10/07 - What’s going on at Kingdome?
While the rumors of handgun violence are slightly exaggerated, Harlem’s Kingdome Classic is definitely experiencing homicidal tendencies. Damon Dash has taken over the event and cross-promoted it in ads and apparel from his line of PRO-Keds this year, giving the games a boost in exposure. ..read more..

05/07 - Big-time street ball comes to Scottrade
Lisa Fusco's daughter returned home from basketball camp one recent day and relayed a directive her coach had given campers. He didn't want any of the kids duplicating moves they had learned from watching AND1 mix tapes, which highlight street ball stars performing outrageous playground maneuvers. As the former general manager of the AND1 Mix Tape Tour, Fusco could relate. She had helped turn the company into a multimillion dollar venture. But this year she and many of that tour's players broke away to form the Ball4Real Tour, which will appear at Scottrade Center on Friday night at 7:30. ..read more..

04/07 - Streetball split
Troy (Escalade) Jackson grinned as he used his 6-10, nearly 400-pound frame to back down a hapless defender in the parking lot of KeySpan Park three weeks ago. On the same day in Los Angeles, several of Jackson's former And1 Mixtape Tour teammates were dazzling fans who came out to watch Ball4Real, a competing brand of street basketball that's making its first cross-country trek this summer. Anthony (1/2 Man 1/2 Amazing) Heyward, Waliyy (Main Event) Dixon and Aaron (AO) Owens earned big money and nationwide recognition during their years with And1, but as the Mixtape tour celebrates its 10th anniversary, they and others say they saw no alternative but to move forward and make a split. . ..read more..

On Sunday team K1X was at the beach for Hoops In The Sun. K1x took on Back 2 Basics which featured NBA Guard Allan Ray (Boston Celtics). What was supposed to be a day off for Homicide became one of the stories that continues to make the Homicide Legend grow out of control. To make a long story short at the end of the first half Homicide had 20 points and Allan Ray had 5 fouls. ..read more..

01/07 - Burtt follows father into lore at Rucker
Steve Burtt Jr. threw up a circus shot - a what-the-heck, no-look baby hook - as he was fouled and flung to the asphalt last week at Rucker Park. Despite the mugging and the miss, his reputation as a smooth scorer remained untouched. "If he comes here and bums it for the rest of the season, nobody won't care, nobody won't remember," the in-game announcer shouted, "because on that special night he had 68 points. ..read more..
