29/01 - Daze Streetball crew draws huge crowd at Weston fund-raiser.
There was a basketball game Monday evening, but there were no losers. There was a memorial honoring a fallen friend, but there were few tears. Instead, a packed gymnasium at Weston Elementary School welcomed staff, students and friends for a basketball game to benefit the John Klang Memorial. The competition was stiff as the Daze Streetball Crew out of Madison provided an entertaining evening. "This is for a great cause, a way to give back to the community," Daze member Troy Dean said. 29/01 - Atlanta StreetBall Classic.
The Atlanta StreetBall Classic a new street basketball league hosted in Atlanta, Georgia will commence from June 14th to July 14th. The league is focused on providing the city of Atlanta and the South East region of the United States with a level of entertainment that is like no other and will be where some of America's top players show their true skills. 29/01 - Cardell "Ballaholic" Butler had a blast.
Whatever the situation in yesterday's American Basketball Association All-Star game, Cardell Butler had fun. On the bench, he'd bob and sway his head to the blaring music. On the court, he'd hustle on defence and ham it up with his teammates. He even showed the pearly whites after Drew Washington made him poster material after an emphatic dunk early in the third quarter where the SilverVision at the Metro Centre showed the two playfully jawing at one another. "I just told him that he knows better than to jump with me," laughed the 22-year-old Washington, a six-foot-three guard. "I don't know why he was jumping with me. It was all fun." .. read more. |

Now you might have a better picture of the phenomenon known as Street Ball, invented at Rucker Park in New York City over 20 years ago and perfected on playgrounds across the country. For the third straight year, some of the world's top streetballers will entertain fans at Las Cruces High School. Hot Sauce, also known as Phillip Champion, headlines the Hustle Up Streetball Tour, which will tour southern New Mexico Feb. 6-12. 18/01 - Silverbacks Sign And1 Star "Bad Santa"
The Buffalo Silverbacks announced today the signing of And1 star point guard Kenny Brunner, also known as " Bad Santa." Brunner is known as the top streetball player on the West coast and top five in the world. While playing in the NBA Summer Pro League 2004 he had 62 assists in 5 games, doubling the figures of Earl Watson and Baron Davis. He was selected for the All Century Drew League, putting him in the top 50 of all time. 15/01 - Corey Williams’ Basketball Odyssey
To call Sioux Falls Skyforce guard Corey Williams a "journeyman" would be an understatement. Since graduating from Alabama State in 2001, the 6-3 point guard has played in eight countries, two minor leagues and in two NBA training camps. But it was on the streets of New York City where Williams made a name for himself and discovered that he was good enough to play at the NBA level. "I think certain scenarios in streetball prepared me a little bit for the NBA because players would come out there and I'd have to matchup against them," said Williams, who played against several top-notch NBA players in summer streetball tournaments, including Sacramento's Ron Artest, Denver's J.R. 06/01 - Tennessee's Shannon "Somthin Special" Bobbitt
Shannon Bobbitt is 5 feet 2. She would fit right in at LSU, where coach Pokey Chatman tends to recruit smallish point guards. But Bobbitt is at SEC foe Tennessee instead, the shortest Lady Vol ever to receive a scholarship. Bobbitt is also a junior college transfer. She and teammate Alberta Auguste are the first junior college players for Tennessee coach Pat Summitt since 1977. After Sa'de Wiley-Gatewood transferred to Maryland in December 2005, Summitt needed some speed and depth at point guard. 02/01 - Bone Collector & Ballaholic in ABA game
The Hollywood Fame completed their first home stand of the season with a 96-94 victory over the San Diego Wildcats at Santa Monica College on Saturday night. The game was tied going into the final minute before Jamison Brewer scored the go ahead basket with only 30 seconds remaining in regulation to seal the victory for the Fame. The win moved the Fame into a tie for first place in their division. The Fame was led by guard Larry " Bone Collector" Williams with 24 points. University of Michigan product, Leland Anderson, finished the game with 21 points and 8 rebounds. .. read more. |
