27/02 - Andre Poole, aka Silk
Although the SBA is introducing "Silk" for the first time on the website, Andre Poole from Baltimore has been doing his thing on the court for years. Silky smooth is definitely the style of his game, being a legend in B-more, Silk played his high-school ball at Patterson where he was the first player ever to represent the school in the All City All-star Game.

27/02 - Pat "Da Roc" Robinson (aka That's Crazy)
That's Crazy is right, Pat "Da Roc" Robinson's free flowing ball handling skills and street ball tricks have grabbed the attention of basketball enthusiasts and fans worldwide. As the youngest street ball player to be featured in a street ball mix tape, Street Wise, Volume I and Volume II, Pat is no rookie in the street ball game after just turning 21 this past December.

27/02 - SBA All-Stars Bring Excitement to NBA Jam Session Center Court
Lights, camera, action the spotlight was on the SBA All-Stars the Week of February 13th-18th as the Street Basketball Association was featured at the Magic Fashion Show in Las Vegas and the NBA All-star Weekend in Denver. The SBA All-stars spent three days in Las Vegas promoting the launch of the SBA "Nothin' But Net" Street Ball apparel line all the while taking pictures and signing autographs for thousands of fans.

CS: YPA stands for Young Players Association. It signifies a united basketball brand started by Real Ballers.
Hoopsvibe: How did YPA get started?
CS: In 1999 I was always playing basketball in Pro Ams and Top Gun tournaments and there was a network of people that we played against at every tournament or saw every weekend at the gym. It was an organization that already existed. We knew this was the same everywhere worldwide for people who loved basketball like we did.

StreetBall Extreme, one of the first fully playable basketball games has been officially released by the Mobile Division of IT Experts and will appear on the most important global markets from the 1st March, 2005. StreetBall Extreme is realistic but surprisingly easy game to play. At the same time it is enhanced with unique climate, fantastic gameplay and perfect graphics.

20/02 - From the streets to DSU's court
It's probably on TV right now. Just flip over to ESPN. See, streetball is everywhere. It has been hyped in magazines and books. Turned into video games, too. And that multi-million dollar television network even created a basketball league based on it. Delaware State senior guard Aaron Williams, on the other hand, has lived it.

19/02 - TO prep school taps streetballer
TAPS, as it's known, is the first prep school (17-20 year olds) in Canada and is slowly making a name for itself south of the border. Prep basketball is somewhat of a pipeline for talented players looking for an extra year of high school eligibility to gain exposure with scouts, or improve their grades before college or university. Mike Zanidean, 19, (pictured left) is using his experience at TAPS to do both.

17/02 - Pugh picked for Final Four dunk contest
Jameel Pugh will be in the Final Four festivities, whether he can bring the Hornets along is yet to be seen. Pugh will compete on March 31 in the College Slam Dunk Championship in St. Louis, site of this year's NCAA Tournament Final Four. The Hornet will be one of eight competitors -- all seniors -- to perform their high-flying acts for ESPN cameras.

15/02 - The SBA Continues to Lead the Streetball Industry
The SBA signed an exclusive licensing deal with NBN in July 2004 to produce apparel and accessories. The deal includes exclusive rights to produce and manufacture apparel using the likeness of 6 SBA All-star players: Baby Shaq, Silk, Pat Da Roc, Rodman, White Chocolate and Seven N' Sum Change. Additional SBA players will have their likeness on apparel in the future. This deal marks the first of its kind in street ball; the deal mirrors one that the NBA, MLB or NFL might receive.

14/02 - Eric Holmes AKA Spinmaster
Spinmaster attended University of Alabama Birmingham for two years. His junior year he played one guard and senior year he played 2nd guard. His senior year he led the conference and the team in scoring. Spin played professional ball out of college. He worked out for the Portland Trailblazers and Milwaukee Bucs.

14/02 - Jamar Davis AKA Pharmacist
Pharmacist played ball this summer at the famed Rucker Park in NYC on Team Ruff Ryders. His major highlight came when he pulled a defender's jersey completely off while maintaining possession of the ball. He also played in the 2003-2004 Pro League in Engelwood, NJ on Team Uptown where he averaged more than 20 points and eight assists.

13/02 - Psychologist helping Alston
Troubled Raptor Rafer Alston is attempting to get a handle on his often volatile behaviour by meeting with Maple Leafs team psychologist Paul Dennis. Alston, who is the Raptors starting point guard, has found himself caught in the middle of numerous controversies this season including a recent report that he almost went toe-to-toe with head coach Sam Mitchell in Cleveland.

Electronic Arts (NASDAQ: ERTS) announced today that NBA STREET V3, the critically acclaimed and culturally defining streetball videogame, has shipped to retailers nationwide and is available in stores under the EA SPORTS BIGª brand. The game was developed in Vancouver, B.C., by EA Canada, the studio that also is home to the industry-leading NBA LIVE and NCAA¨ March Madness¨ basketball videogame franchises.

09/02 -- Mitchell denies fight with Alston
Toronto Raptors coach Sam Mitchell denied Wednesday he had come to blows with Rafer Alston at halftime of an NBA game Tuesday night in Cleveland, saying his issues with the troubled guard were basketball issues. Alston, benched by Mitchell with 3:46 remaining in the first quarter, left Gund Arena during the fourth quarter of a 104-91 loss.

08/02 - Streetball is his road to NBA playground
It came in the middle of a three-on-one fast break at New York's famed Rucker Park, on a summer night nearly 14 years ago. Alston started skipping down the court, dribbling on his knees, rising quickly before wrapping the ball around the back of a defender and delivering it to one of his teammates.

06/02 - Trix Da Silva's route to NBA is tricky
Elizabeth native Luis da Silva, better known as "Trikz," plays basketball for a living, though he doesn't do it in the NBA or any other organized professional league. The 2000 graduate of St. Patrick's of Elizabeth signed this week with the Harlem Wizards, a barnstorming group that entertains crowds in a fashion similar to the more famous Harlem Globetrotters.

03/02 - Raptors' Alston apologizes to team
Toronto Raptors point guard Rafer Alston admits he "wears his emotions on his sleeve" and is sorry for his emotional blowup that led to a two-game suspension. Alston apologized to teammates and coaches before the start of Thursday's practice, his first after serving a two-game suspension for "conduct detrimental to the team."
