23/08 - The Notic - North Stars
It's been four
years since the Grizzlies skipped
town. For Vancouver, it was an experiment
that failed miserably. Stevie Franchise
punked the city before he got drafted,
and Big Country never lost enough
weight. Looking back, Brian Winters
and Stu Jackson never had a chance.
Today, it's a forgotten city among
NBA heads. Maybe the L shouldn't
have come here in the first place.
Taxes are too high, and the city's
lifeblood is rooted in hockey. But
every ending paves the way for a
new beginning.

Handles: The Response
Please understand
this, folks: Joey doesn't play.
No, sir. As one of the world's elite
streetballers, King Handles has
established an international reputation
for all the right reasons. Hoops,
not hype. Tricks, not talk. Spin
moves, not spin. He knows as well
as anyone that there will be drama,
but he's also aware that there's
only one true stage for it: the
court. Coaches, not directors. Benches,
not box seats. Sunlight, not limelight.

It was as if
the win-or-go-home playoffs -- always
the most tension-filled time at
the ever-fascinating Entertainers
Basketball Classic at Rucker Park -- started a week early. Because,
for all intents and purposes, this
WAS the playoffs for 3-3 BMF; if
they didn't beat D Band -- by at
least nine points, no less -- their
season was over. ..read more..

Handles Interview Streetballers are fraudsters. At least, I used
to think so. Sit tight for a minute
and let me explain. It was some
eight years ago at the tender age
of ten that I first came across
the game as I rode my bike through
a neglected corner of the local
park. Although already acquainted
with indoor Basketball, I hadn't
before seen anything even vaguely
resembling what was happening on
the cracked, uneven asphalt of that
dingy court. ..read
