Imports continue to dominate the landscape for all the wrong reasons, but it's unlikely to stop the Wellington Saints getting their third National Basketball League win tomorrow when they take on the Otago Nuggets at The Events Centre. As the Saints contemplated the departure of American Tony "Go Get It" Jones yesterday, the Nuggets were rushing through paperwork in a bid to clear his countryman Branduinn Fullove. Jones will board a plane tomorrow after struggling with injury and form. The excitement of street basketball will come to Jamaica when the world renowned And1 tour touches down in Kingston, for the JAMROC streetballers weekend tour from May 4-7. A number of events have been planned for the tour which sees some of the streetballing legends of the hardwood on display. They include a visit to the Bustamante Children's Hospital and an autograph signing session at the New Kingston Shopping Centre. In an action-packed night, the Streetball Legends handed the unofficial Virginia Tech Hokies a 118-98 loss Saturday evening in Blacksburg. The "Believe to Achieve Tour" took a pit stop at Cassell Coliseum and took on a Tech team that was partially comprised of former Tech basketball standouts. "(Streetball’s) a lot of fun," said event organizer Wayne Draper. Daniel O’Keefe and Danny Ford nowadays are grooving their basketball skills on the court in a game called streetball. A few weeks ago the two 19-year-olds from Exeter, who own the streetball company Local Mixtapes, and a number of their teammates put on the Local Mixtapes All-Star Game against Exeter High School alumni at Talbot Gymnasium. Yeah, it’s basketball, and you shoot and score, but the brand of streetball O’Keefe and Ford play is a tad different from your usual game of basketball. For starters, it’s played with music blaring in the background, and more often than not played on a playground. The Dakota All-Stars basketball team is set to compete during the "And1 Killa Krosova Tour" presented by Vault at 7 p.m. Friday in the Betty Engelstad Sioux Center.
